Basically, the part of the tsuba dome that contacts the shinai is made of rubber.
Therefore, it is considered a consumable item among martial arts equipment, treated as such with normal use during kendo practice.
Even if the exterior is made of expensive leather, the lifespan is determined by the deterioration of the rubber part.
