This is a high-quality inkstone made from Ogatsu stone (Gensho stone), a traditional craft of Ishinomaki City, Miyagi Prefecture.
Ogatsu in Ishinomaki City, Miyagi Prefecture, is one of the leading inkstone production areas in Japan. Ogatsu inkstones are characterized by their lustrous jet-black color and beautiful natural stone patterns, as well as their ability to easily grind ink and produce excellent color.
