Antique French Point de Paris Floral Initial Embroidered Mesh Lace Doily

Beautiful antique French lace.
A chic and elegant round doily featuring a Point de Paris technique using bobbin lace, depicting floral motifs that bloom in a vase, with a handle resembling angel wings, and incorporating initials.

Art Nouveau design from the late 1800s to the 1920s.

Plants gracefully curve their stems, blooming with delicate five-petaled flowers, and their leaves and stems spread elegantly. The relief is woven with varying densities to create a sense of rising and emerging.

The exquisite needlework, monogram embroidery, reads MHW. Reversed, it's WHM. Picot lace is used in the spaces as a bridge.

The vase itself, or as if integrated with it, is intricately woven with elegant motifs, reflecting the thoughtful creation of the vase.

The design around the trim is also lovely, with the four corners resembling a pumpkin spreading its wings. The central part is cross-hatched with needlework in an asterisk-like pattern.

The edge is adorned with delicate picot lace embroidery all around, adding a subtle charm.

The mesh base is a net weave with diagonally crossed threads, resembling a Star of David. It is also robust and strong.

The color is an nuanced ecru or ivory, with a hint of grassy undertones to the white.

Smooth, supple, and dry to the touch, yet with a slight crispness. The material is likely linen, with a subtle crispness. Both the base and the outline threads have a faint sheen and luster.

In excellent condition with no scratches or stains. The back is almost indistinguishable from the front, and both sides are beautiful.
