Purchased over 20 years ago at an antique shop in Tokyo. I never had the courage to have it tailored for myself and kept it carefully stored.
While there are natural variations in the fibers typical of natural materials, there are no noticeable stains or damage, making this a very well-preserved item.

Bashofu is woven from fibers extracted from the ito-basho (Abaca banana) plant.
Its fibers are known for being strong, durable, lightweight, and breathable.
Production is labor-intensive, and with a decreasing number of producers and an aging workforce, production volume has declined, making it a rare textile.
