Tea Ceremony Utensil: Chashaku (Tea Scoop) - Inscribed "Senshin" (Cleansing the Mind) by Sōtai, Lower Shaving / Kōtōin Gozan's Calligraphy, with Matching Tube and Box
This is a tea scoop (chashaku) from my mother's collection of tea ceremony utensils.
The inscription is Senshin (洗心). It features rough shaping by Sōtai,
with the inscription by the monk Gōzan Oshō of Daitoku-ji sub-temple Kōtō-in.
It comes with its original bamboo tube and wooden box.
The tube is inscribed with Senshin and a seal, which matches the writing on the box.
The bamboo has a beautiful texture, and the clean, refined shaping gives it an elegance that will stand out in any tea ceremony.
*There are no noticeable damages, and it is in generally good condition.
However, the tube and box have age-related scuffs and stains.
*It appears to have been barely used, and the lid of the original tube is stiff.
Please examine the photos and thank you for your understanding.
