A traditional folk instrument originating from Shimane Prefecture, made by placing coins like 5-yen coins inside a bamboo tube and sealing both ends.
When held in both hands and shaken, it makes a light, cheerful shan shan sound and is mainly used for dancing to folk songs such as Dojyo Sukui (loach scooping dance).
