Nikon TC-16A Teleconverter (Modified)

AF-Compatible Teleconverter TC-16A (Modified) for Nikon Cameras

This teleconverter is from the film era. For example, when attaching a manual lens to an F4 via this teleconverter, it provided a 1.6x focal length multiplier and enabled autofocus, making it an excellent accessory. While many of these teleconverters are currently listed, they are not the modified versions and therefore cannot be used with current digital cameras (although physical attachment is possible).


1. The unit being offered has been modified to allow autofocus to function with the latest flagship model, the D5 (pictured). It was previously used with a D3s.
I will provide a description. This unit is already modified, so you will not need to make any adjustments yourself. I received this as reference material from the workshop that performed the modification. Please read it for your reference.
2. Autofocus also works for close-up shots. If you have extension rings (PK-12, PK-13), you can insert them between this teleconverter and the master lens to take AF close-up shots of flowers (see example photos). However, you will need to manually adjust the focus to some extent. If you set it to AF-C, you can press the shutter button when the focus is achieved.

*Note: A rear cap is included, but the front cap is missing. A substitute will be provided.
