Tsugaru Lacquerware Vase Stand, Incense Burner Stand

Technique: This is the Karanauri (唐塗) technique, a representative technique of Tsugaru-nuri. The unique speckled pattern is created by repeatedly layering lacquers of different colors and then polishing them smooth.

Shape: It has a modern, clean square shape.

The triangular parts are likely legs (脚) to elevate and display the main body.

It can be transformed from a flat board into a tall decorative stand (flower stand).

Value: Tsugaru-nuri is so labor-intensive that it's sometimes called baka-nuri (fool's lacquer).

Wipe Off Dirt with a Soft Cloth: If dust accumulates, gently wipe with a dry soft cloth. If the dirt is heavy, gently wash with lukewarm water and wipe dry.
