This is a rice bale for display. It does not contain any rice.
It is made of vinyl material, not real straw.
I used it for my child's first birthday to have them carry issho-mai (a one-liter bag of rice).
I wondered if it would be too big for a one-year-old to carry, but it wasn't too big or too heavy for them to manage.
If you plan to use it in the same way, it's best to put the rice in a plastic bag before placing it inside the bale.
There are no straps included for carrying, so you will need a tenugui (Japanese hand towel) or a thin, long towel.
