This is a hemp fabric shoulder bag.
Purchased in Laos around 1996.

The elephant pattern on the front pocket is woven with Laotian silk (Tussah silk) as the weft.
Laotian silk is characterized by a slight fuzziness, which gives it a unique soft texture.
The lining is naturally indigo-dyed.
Indigo dyeing is a traditional Laotian technique used in the ethnic clothing of mountain ethnic minorities in Laos.

It is easy to use and has been used frequently, so there are signs of fading and dirt.
