Kameda Zenmai-ori (Fern Fiber Weave) Zenmai Ei-neru (Fern Fiber English Flannel) Kameda textiles are said to have originated in 1717 when craftsmen invited from Echigo began weaving cotton Kameda-jima. Zenmai-ori is believed to have been invented and commercialized by cotton cloth merchant Yujiro Sato in the 1880s. [Features] Woven by blending zenmai cotton, which grows on the heads of wild ferns, with cotton. It has insect-repellent and waterproof properties. [Uses] Fabric for kimonos, coats, cushions, etc. Zenmai-ori, which excels in heat retention and waterproofing, has a texture similar to flannel, and was reportedly sold as Ei-neru in the Tohoku region.
