Made a chamois using water-resistant deerskin and thick cowhide nubuck.
Imagine a colored chamois used for car washing.

Brown is cowhide nubuck, approximately 1.5mm thick.
Green is deerskin, approximately 1mm thick.
A soft cowhide layer is sandwiched between them, approximately 2mm thick.
It becomes softer and conforms to your hand the more you use it.
Its softness and thickness make it suitable for both wiping racks and holding balls.

Leather Characteristics:
Cowhide Nubuck:
Soft, easy to wipe, and thick, it absorbs a lot of oil, but it is expensive. It has a good stiffness for holding and wiping, making it a good match.
Cowhide Suede (Flesh Side):
Inexpensive, thick, and absorbs a lot of oil. It has a lot of fuzz, looks less appealing, and is stiff.
Deerskin (Sheepskin):
Soft, water-resistant, and has fine fibers, so it absorbs oil well and is easy to wipe. Because the leather is thin, it needs frequent washing or an oil-absorbing layer on the back. It lacks a grain surface, so it stretches easily. Its low circulation makes it difficult to obtain and expensive.
